4th of July BBQ

What an amazing slide we had THIS year! WAAAAAYYY bigger than before!  Although the day started out slightly over cast, in true Santa Rosian tradition... it ended up beautiful.  Of course a highlight for the kids is seeing pastor Rick take the plunge... which he did again this year with all the gusto of a 10 year old.... that's why we love him!  Of course our day could not be complete without a little competitive volleyball game.... the kids and grown ups mixed it up and we had a great game this year.  Chris keys was our resident bbquer, and it must be said, he did a fabulous job!  Another great church BBQ... if you weren't able to be there... we missed you and hope you can make it next year!

Easter Egg Hunt Survival 101

1.  Keep your eyes open at all times, they come at you reeeelly fast.
2.  Do not give the tiny kids too much head start or the older kids scowl at you.
3.  Do not stand in place for too long, you look like a rookie.
4.  NEVER fill eggs with carob or raisins, this brings out scary voices in children.
5.  When hiding plastic filled eggs, never toss them on the ground, they pop open and it's tempting to eat the candy.
6.  Make sure each child has a bag big enough for several eggs, small bags are an insult to the average, competitive 5 year old.
7.  Never go through your daughters eggs looking for a piece of candy... chances are in the 5 minutes since the hunt ended, she has already taken meticulous inventory.

OK.... so it's not 101 tips, but it's a start.... Sunday was a blast!  The kids all had a great time at our second annual Easter egg hunt, and the people in church, really came through again.  Not sure exactly how many eggs we got, but it was at least 1000.  We guessed at about 60 kids this year, and we all had a great time watching them.  The kids were soooo appreciative and thankful for the hunt, even though my "tips" would claim otherwise.  It was great having so many Happy Time families with us making the morning even more special.

Let the Games Begin !!!

March 27th was our wonderfully wonderful Family game night!  Jenny Hals and Norma Fernandez prepared an amazing Taco bar, complete with Normas Homemade salsa, in "Hot" and "Oh my goodness, I just fried my sinuses, Hot".  They really did such a great job, and it was great having their families there with us.  There was everything from Life, cards, dominoes, and of course an extremely competitive game of Basketball going on out in the gym... I mean come on.... Pastor Rick was there!  Thanks to Phil Pilisdorf we had some great Big Band tunes to listen to which added to the fun atmosphere.  It's always fun to get together as a church family, and just celebrate!

WE LOVE BECKY!!!!

SOOOO.... we just had our 5th and 6th grade girls sleepover.... Thanks to Becky.... the idea girl, the visionary.... the one who said "Hey girls... how about a sleepover?"  14 girls, Hollywood Theme, red carpet walk off, "I love you baby, but I just can't smile" games, pizza, sundaes, t-peed by the Junior High boys, and a little bit of  "Ella Enchanted" makes for a great night!  The girls had a blast... those who didn't want to take the roll as the red carpet walkers, played paparazzi and of course, what's a contest without our 3 American Idol judges, Randy, Paula and grouchy old Simon.  It was a fun filled night, and the girls all seemed to have more fun than they knew what to do with.... Thank You to a wonderfully, wonderful sunday school teacher who said... "Hey, I've got an idea?"

A Day of Giving

Today at church ended Pastor Ricks "Giving" series, and to top it off, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner together, as a church family.  It was a great time to celebrate how much we really do have to be thankful for.  Pastor Rick said this morning, that he saw a couple little girls bouncing in, with pony tails swinging, so excited to just be there, and all be together.  It was a great representation of the entire feel of the morning.  It was wonderfully celebratory, and the food was incredible too.  I was so proud of the way everyone brought such wonderful things to share together.  We worshiped together with the smells of turkey dinner wafting into the sanctuary.  When service was over, the meal began, and it was marvelous!  So many great cooks in our church... WOW!  It was a real blessing to share the morning and afternoon, together, with our church family!  I heard someone say towards the end, "We should do this once a month!"  I would have to agree!

Trunk or Treat 2008

Well Trunk or Treat 2008 has come to an end and everyone had a great time.  The cars all looked great and I was just so thankful for everyone who participated.  We
had some great trunks this year, however Laurie McAdams took the ultimate prize with her jungle/gorilla trunk and won the "Rickie Award." The kids had a great time getting their picture taken with Miss Laurie and claiming their candy out of her banana box.  Molly Bassett even had her new puppy "Max" available for pictures with the little ones.  Our great kitchen staff kept the chili, and drinks flowing all night, and had a great time doing it.  At the end of the night one of the kitchen gals told me "There's no place I would rather be on Halloween."  Thanks so much gals!  The jump houses in the gym were rockin all night long while parents ate chili and visited together.  We think we probably had about 200 people come through and/or participate this year and I want everyone to know that we couldn't do it without your help.  Everyone was really great at welcoming our guests and mingling with everyone.  I think the best compliment we could get was given when one visiting family said they could really tell this was a place where everyone really loved each other... I'd say our prayers were answered!
